  • Family with children

    Good location

Seriously overpriced for a 60's standard Motel. Having to take breakfast standing in the very small lobby without any tables or chairs is a scandal, especially if they advertise breakfast included!very misleading, should not recommend that place, the price for that standard is just ridiculous!

  • Family with children

Good value for money, location and comfort

Staff attitude inflexible. I arrived 2 minutes late for breakfast cut-off and the waffle machine could not be plugges in again!! unbelievable inflexibility. Also no help with internet problem, simply given a number to follow up the provider direct.

  • Family with children

This motel is good value for money. The rooms were clean and the staff were helpful. It is located in the 'hotel circle' so it's next to a variety of hotels just off the freeway but I didn't find it noisy. You do need to either drive or take a taxi to the main attractions & places to go in San Diego. We drove to Seaworld and the Zoo which aren't far from the motel at all and we took taxi's at night to the Gaslamp quarter and the old town, the taxi's were reasonably priced. I would definitely stay here again.

The only small problem we had was there was no cots or roll out beds available as they had all been booked out. I did add in the notes when I booked the motel that I required one but I was obviously too late. It wasn't too much of a problem as my daughter is only two so we pushed the leather footstool and the chair together to make a bed, we had done this at a previous motel and she slept fine for 3 nights. The motel did upgrade us to a King size room for free so that was nice. So I would recommend if you have children that you book a room with two beds.

  • Family with children

This stay was horrible.we arrived late and our room was given away so my children were forced to sleep on the card was tehn charged again.Horrible horrible.never again

  • Group of friends

The housekeeping manager was extremely willing to make up for problems that we incurred and made it his job personally to make sure that the rest of our stay was enjoyable.

Our first room had stains on the sheets and the ceiling of the bathroom was leaking on us. We were then moved to an "upgraded" room that also had a large stain on one of the bed's sheets that looked like a urine stain. It wasn't until we missed a half of a day at Sea World (we did not get to the park until 2pm) and had to move rooms 2 times that we finally had a clean room. The breakfast was semi-adequate but definitely not great.

  • Couple

Room was excellent and in a great central location away from all the undesirable people that you see in some places in town. Had everything we needed, lovely funishings bar fridge, microwave, room safe, loved the granite top on washbasin and furniture. Laundry was much needed and affordable option as we had run out of clean clothes as we stayed here in approx middle of our trip. Staff had remembered from many many months ago when I booked the room that we were coming for our honeymoon and made room look even more beautiful with roses and champange on our bed Thankyou so much for a great stay The resturant next door the Valley Kitchen is a great asset to have nearby as well we really enjoyed affordable normal fresh food and ate there all three nights Loved the Taco Salard wish I could order one right now :) xxx

Hot water ran out in mornings when high peak use but I got mine lol Husband had a very luke cold one

  • Older travelers

Staff is very professional. Hotel is very closet to Sea World with ease getting back and forth to the park.

  • Family with children

The staff was friendly. The hotel looks a little older, but the outside is well-maintained.

The cleanliness of the room was a little lacking. Or maybe that's just what I should expect in a two-star hotel. There were some pet hairs in the tub (even though supposedly our room was a non-pet room). Both the sink and the tub were very slow to drain. There's two pools at the property, but only one was really usable.

  • Family with children

Close to seaworld and the freeway

Room had an old smell to it

  • Single

Great location - 6 minutes to downtown. Convenient freeway access (I8 E, 163 S). Quiet rooms.

Breakfast is limited to waffles and cereal, and there's no place to sit in the lobby. They don't have a computer terminal for general access.

  • Older travelers

The Vagabond Inn has a central location with easy access to I8 and expressway route 163 to downtown. Old Town just down thhe streetand for the shoppers the Fashion Mall across the interstate. Plenty of eating places within walking distance. The kids were enjoying the two pools and the heated one the most late in the evening.

  • Couple

room was nice and clean, good value for the price

breakfasts could be more variable, personel could be more helpful

  • Couple

It is a great hotel, this is my second time there, the first one I stayed for over 20 nights, and this is my second week this time. The rooms are big and every thing is great.

That any one can enter the hotel without passing by the lobby.

  • Older travelers

located in hotel circle, bus stop opposite hotel drops downtown san diego ,not much near hotel.

  • Family with children

good breakfast, nice to have a heated pool and jaccuzi
